Frank's Cabin Quilt Pattern

What if a log cabin quilt and a stained glass window had a baby? What would it look like? That was the question I had in my head when I sat down to design Frank's Cabin! What I came up with, I'd say is quite stunning. But you can be the judge of that!

The base block is all traditionally pieced. The centre circles are appliquéd, and are perfect for fussy cutting. 

In terms of skill level, we'd recommend this pattern for the intermediate quilter. The blocks feature small pieces and appliquéd accents. 

The pattern features 5 sizes:

• Wall (43" x 43")
• Lap (55½" x 55½")
• Throw (55½" x 68")
• Twin (68" x 80½")
• Queen (93" x 105½")

The printed pattern is an 8½" x 11" booklet. A pdf version is also available. Templates for the appliqué are included in both.

In summery, the pattern features

Now let's look at the 2 colour options offered in the pattern.

The traditional version uses 5 colours, plus sashing and background. Each block is identical and repeated across the quilt top. A sample of the traditional version is shown in the left image below.

There are technically 2 ombré versions. The Wall and Lap are what we're calling an A to Z Ombré. This means no colour is repeated. There are 21 colours, for example, in the Wall quilt and 29 colours in the Lap quilt.

The Throw, Twin, and Queen feature a Boomerang Ombré. This means the colours fade to the centre and then fade back towards the starting colour. You can see an example of this below; the mockup to the right features the Boomerang Ombré.
